Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991, also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 21st, 2016, she released Pho which was her first EP released on the Dreamville Records label. This was when she was first recognized. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The release date was May 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012, as she launched her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014, she debuted more music via the Internet including Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes and from Sweat It Out, on July 21, 2015. Later that year her music circulated around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some of the references for Rihanna. It was announced on December 8th that she had been signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she performed along with Cozz on The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. In October of 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she performed as a guest artist on two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas' Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. The music video later released in September. She dropped her follow-up single for Grampa on November 9. On November 13 two new singles titled"No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, the 26th of February, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured alongside Cole for The Creed II sound track on November 16. It was released with the music video which debuted on February 20, 2019, which was viewed by 3 million people on YouTube in the first week. In December 2018, she performed as part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
